So, I’m getting ready for Phase A in a couple of weeks (yikes!!).  Anybody have any advice they’d like to throw my way?  I’m all ears!  Thanks.

Preparing for the physical aspects of it just requires regularly hard training.  I think the mental aspect of the wear on your body, the isolation (if you don’t know anyone else going), and getting broken down to make you better, is what was surprising to me.  As you go through additional phases it gets better.  It’s the unexpected that is the first phase that is, in some ways, the hardest.  Many can tell you about their experiences, but you have to do it to really know.
Good luck!

Thanks, kravsd.  I’ve been training like a maniac - the endurance aspect is one of the scariest parts for me, but the unknown is what’s driving me crazy.  Fortunately someone is going with me.  We won’t be partnering, his body is much larger than mine, so physically we’re a poor match, but it’ll be nice to have a familiar face there.

Hey! You’ll do great.  Just think of it as hard training, listen as much as you can, and eat healthy (but not too much) at lunch.  Spend a little time in the evening reviewing any notes you took, or making a few notes, and then REST.

I know you’ll do fine!

Keep fruit on hand, orange slices, grapes, apples, etc…  The healthy sugars will keep your head in the game without letting your sugars drop too low giving that dizzy feeling.  Good sleep 1 week straight before will be a good thing.  (easier said than done I know).  John whitman conducted my Expert 1 test 3 months after phase c so I was pretty nervous.  the one thing that really helped my get ready was the Bas 30 min workout.  the split of pushups, sprawls, jumps, striking, really prepared that burst type mentality needed for a test.  Biggest thing also is not to over think the techniques and to even sing a song in your head while you do it so the brain will “shut off” and the body will do the technique naturally the way it was meant to.  My striking has gotten so much better since I stopped thinking about the combos and basically just let my hands go.

I’ve got alot of workouts to prep for testing if you need any assistance feel free to shoot me message

Thanks, Jeremy.  I’ve only got a few more days of working out before Jeff is having me taper off, but fortunately it sounds like they’ve been having me do the same Bas-type stuff you are referring to.  I suspect there may be a day in the future when I’ll be taking you up on your workout advice, though.  Its important for me to stay in very good condition, so I’m always looking for new stuff to keep things interesting.  I think the hotel where I’m staying will have a little fridge I can store fruit in, so thanks for that good advice!

EDIT:
And you’re so right about not overthinking.  I tend to be up in my head all the time.  I saw a video of myself teaching two things, and during the demonstration for one technique I was thinking about “doing everything correctly”, and in the other I was just feeling the joy of destruction.  Huge difference in the way my body moved & even the way I spoke afterward.

Oh, cool!  I look forward to seeing you there!  You should feel good about being a little nervous.  I’m so freaked out I can barely keep my hair on.

Thank you! I appreciate that! I arrive on Sunday. My partner just had to drop out due to injury, so I will be there on my own.. At this point looking forward to starting! If you have any last minute advise or things to know about the area that would be great!

Thanks, Jeremy!  I heard the Monday morning class was starting at 9 a.m. & figured I should get there about an hour early in case I needed to fill out any more paperwork or anything.  Does this sound about right?  Also, I was told I could probably bring a cooler to keep my drinks in for the day.  A guy at my school does that at rank tests & I was soooo jealous when I saw him getting his cold gatorade out to swig.  Can I bring one?

Also, frankly, I’ve heard that Pete is a very scary gentleman, but don’t know if this is just an urban legend.
